When you have to leave your home on short notice, you grab the most valuable things you have in one sack – a bukjeh – and walk. When you are leaving a whole life behind and starting a new one, what do you decide to keep?
BUKJEH puts new and diverse communities front and centre, sharing stories of migration and refuge that define their existence, experience
and uniqueness. In an installation mirroring a disaster relief tent, personal testimonies of those displaced are documented and shared through song, dance, poetry, spoken-word and visual art.
